I keep hearing in fitness word that reformer workouts are NOT enough/not considered strength training? I can't see why not. What is your opinion please?
Yes, there is so much talk about this lately. Reformer Pilates is absolutely a form of resistance training. I say "resistance" and not "strength" because technically speaking "strength training" is building maximum strength and power, and often uses heavier load and fewer reps than what we do in Pilates. Resistance training focuses on a broader range of fitness goals, not just maximizing strength. It's important to note that Reformer Pilates, because we use springs, will build muscles. But, not in the same way that your typical strength training will. I hope that answers your question.
That has answered the question I just posted, Thank you Gabrielle!!! I love your workouts and pleased to know that Pilates "will build muscle" ;)
