Hi
I just purchased your membership and loving it so far as a friend has given me her lovely reformer about a total hip replacement 14 weeks ago. D you have post surgery programs please, or any considerations when working with reformer bed?
Cheers
Hi Tracy, welcome to the platform!
I don't have any specific programs for post hip replacement, but my workouts are great to strengthen and stretch the muscles around the hip, which I know is really beneficial for people who have had a hip replacement.
My advice is that you go at your own pace and listen to what your body needs. If a spring tension feels too heavy, make it lighter or do the move without using the strap. For example, for the side-lying legs exercises, if it feels too heavy to sweep or bend the leg when your foot is in the strap, take the strap off and do the movement on its own.
Hip strengthening exercises include: side-lying legs, skaters, side splits, bridges, lunges...but inner thigh exercises are important as well: side splits and feet in straps. Feet in straps helps mobilize the femur in the hip joint. Stretches like hip flexor stretch, piriformis stretch, and hamstring stretch.
These are all safe to do once your doctor clears you, and again, taking it at your own pace.
I hope that helps!
