Hello! I recently joined (this evening) without a reformer to try some of the mat classes and I have fallen in love with what you offer, BUT, I don't have a reformer. I believe you recommend balanced body? However, I am pregnant and really need to save money for my little one to arrive in April. I have stumbled across an Amazon reformer, and am curious if this may be good to use for your classes?
I am fearful to buy something (even $400 is a lot for me!) and then have it not work for these classes.
When you get a minute, can someone chime in and let me know if they think the "Foldable Pilates Reformer Machine,Extended 88in Metal Frame Pilates Equipment for Home Women Men Use Gym Workout & Advanced and Beginners Users , Dual Resistance System (Spring & Latex Tubes)" would be a good option or personal experience with this? If not, I would love to hear others opinions of cheaper, but still quality reformers!
Thank you so much in advance!
Cat
Maybe consider just doing the mat classes for a while. I would be reluctant to pay $400 for a reformer as I’m sure you will be disappointed and likely not enjoy it. Balanced Body reformers are expensive. I shopped around and found one by Personal Hour that is very similar for a fraction of the price but it is still a big investment in yourself. It sounds like right now you want to focus on the arrival of your little one, and rightly so. The mat format is very effective and can prepare you for when you can afford a decent reformer.
Hi Cat,
Welcome to the platform! ❤️
I haven’t personally worked on a reformer priced under $3,000, so I can’t speak from direct experience with those models. What I can share is that many very inexpensive reformers can be disappointing over time—parts may not move smoothly, durability can be an issue, and customer service is often limited. Especially during pregnancy, having a stable, well-made machine really matters for safety and peace of mind.
You could certainly try one if you’re curious, but just know there’s a chance it may not be a long-term investment. There are some options closer to the $2,000 range on Amazon that may be a better fit, but if you’re ever considering investing in a reformer you’ll keep for years, Balanced Body is truly top-tier. They’re made in the USA, built to last, and hold their resale value extremely well.
That said—you absolutely don’t need a reformer to stay strong and connected during pregnancy. Mat Pilates is a wonderful option, and I have prenatal mat classes on the platform, along with a prenatal modifications video so you can safely adjust other workouts too.
You can find those here:

Let me know if you have any questions at all—I’m happy to help!
Thank you! ♥️ I appreciate the feedback. I also was looking at the personal hour ones. Have you found the one you have works for most of the classes on this app?
Oops! So sorry. My previous comment to you was meant for the comment above. Thank you for your feedback! It is looking like I will be saving for a quality one. 😊 other brands I was looking at were personal hour and Siluet. Not sure if you have heard of those? They seem higher quality than the one I mentioned in my original post, but still not the balanced body gold standard. Either way, I’ll be enjoying Pilates! I found your prenatal modification video on YouTube as well. That was very helpful! Thank you again. ♥️
I purchased a Personal Hour reformer with the tower. It came with everything (props), like the box and the extra boards. You can even select the color you want Customer service was outstanding and they delivered it FREE in a huge crate to my home. I had an opportunity to buy a used Balance Body reformer but it was still over $7000. I am totally satisfied for my Personal Hour reformer It is smooth and quiet and beautiful.
